Adventures of Lady Magdalene at the Mystical Ball

Interactive Demo with Audio in Act 2

The action takes place in a medieval castle, in a fantasy land, on the eve of a grand ceremonial ball.

Crown Prince Dorian, heir to the throne, is deeply in love with Lady Magdalene, a radiant dame-in-waiting from a minor noble house. She loves him just as fiercely. That night, they plan to announce their betrothal, a union of hearts rather than politics.

But the court mage, Oscar, has other plans. As the Prince’s chief advisor, he thrives on control, pulling Dorian’s strings like a master puppeteer. A marriage to Lady Magdalene would loosen his grip—and that, he cannot allow.

A mage does not rise to power on cunning alone. Oscar weaves a fey enchantment, twisting the Prince’s dreams into a vision of betrayal. In the nightmare, Magdalene shatters his trust and dooms his kingdom. When Dorian turns to his trusted advisor for guidance, Oscar seizes the moment, framing the dream as a dire omen, a warning against the betrothal.

Doubt takes root. The next morning, Prince Dorian pens a letter, summoning Lady Magdalene to the garden at noon. They must talk.

Act I. Dorian and Magdalene in the King’s Garden

Action takes place at the garden of the Castle. Lady Magdalene enters the garden and discovers Prince Dorian waiting for her. Prince welcomes Magdalene and shares his worries.

❤️ The goal of the player is to show Lady Magdalene’s affection to the Prince Dorian, and clear his doubts. Player can achieve it by making compliments and confessing Magdalene’s feelings in delicate matters.

❄️ At the same time, some fey magic stirs in Prince Dorian’s mind, and if player doesn’t move the conversation toward romance, the Prince’s heart becomes cold, and he decides to cancel the betrothal but offers Lady Magdalene to become his secret mistress.

💢 If player won’t behave properly, as a dame-in-waiting should, Prince Dorian worries if Lady Magdalene is feeling well and, eventually, calls for his advisor Oscar and asks him to escort Lady Magdalene to her room.

Act II. Dorian, Magdalene, Oscar

Action takes place in the same garden, but at the evening, almost before the ball. Lady Magdalene walks into the garden and sees Prince Dorian and Mage Oscar talking. It is not clear what are they talking about, but as Oscar sees Magdalene, he declares that he is going to show Prince Dorian who Lady Magdalene really is.

Prince Dorian steps aside and stays silent, observing what is happening. Sometimes, an emotion betrays him and a word or two escapes from his mouth.

Mage Oscar interrogates Lady Magdalene, trying to provoke her. He insinuates true intentions of Lady Magdalene as looking for money, for political power, for high status of Queen. If Magdalene refutes his accusations, he becomes desperate and may even say he himself has an affair with Lady Magdalene.

🎯 The goal of the player is to defend Magdalene against accusations of Mage Oscar by answering his questions.

❤️ If none of the Oscar’s attempts takes ground, Prince Dorian becomes angry at Mage Oscar and overwhelmed with love for Lady Magdalene. He takes her hand and they proceed to the ball.

🌩️ If player fails to convince Prince Dorian, he falls for Oscar’s arguments. He then orders to banish Lady Magdalene and, of course, cancels the betrothal.

💢 Same as in Act 1, if player won’t behave properly, as a dame-in-waiting should, it doesn’t end well for them. Oscar will use this against them and convince Prince Dorian that Magdalene is possessed.
